She's about 4 weeks old, and apparently abandoned by her mother. Ffej and I were cleaning up the side yard Monday and as he picked up a clod of dirt from the patio he realized it was soft and warm and furry. We cleaned her up and fed her formula from the pet store.
Now the tricky part: What to name her. My provisional name is "Strike", because she has a stripe down the side like a lightning strike. But due to the way she purrs, I'm thinking of calling her "Two-Stroke". But I'm open to suggestions!
She's a talker and "mumbles" as she wanders around the house. She's a mass of little teeth and claws and has pretty strong jaws. (Right now any bare flesh is a possible nipple so she clamps down when she finds any!)
My suggestion would be some garlic, olive oil, cooked over medium heat, adding a dash of cream just before serving.
seriously....cute cat.
If she mumbles and walks around, how about "Sybil."
or, Mumbles.

That is sooooo cute... reminds me of my cat, my cat runs around the house and chases my older sick cat. The younger cats name is Mocha and the older cats name is Sasha (but Sasha is very sick and dying i guess u could say he is wasting away, dying slowly cuz the vet does not know what’s wrong with him) oh well ur cat is so cute it wont be hard finding a name, for Mocha i went to Tim Hortons and bought a Mocha Chino or whatever its called and i named her Mocha cuz she looks like coffie and acts like she is on coffie.

She looks well fed, so I'd suggest momma probably didn't make it back from a hunting trip.
I'd wait to give her a name. At my house all animal names are provisional - that is the name is temporary until we live together for a while and get to know each other, and names may change. Thus, Zeus - a very intelligent cat with an unfortunate habit of finding new and unique ways of pissing off the people who thought they owned him (which included yours truly, but nobody really owns a cat) - for most of his life was known as "Shithead".

Considering how much she wanders, how aggressive she eats, and how small her mother was, I'd guess momma just lost track of her or couldn't handle her. The photos are from a couple days after we rescued her and she's been scarfing down formula pretty fast. Fortunately she seems very healthy.
I let her sleep with me last night. I had to put her down on the floor a couple of times when she started roaming, as I don't want her falling off the high bed, but once she ran down a little she stayed put snuggled up against me.

Excuse me. Is that a Microsoft product? Would you mind putting that out? I'm allergic to second-hand ignorance.

Ffej told me tonight that he heard a noise in the back room. He noticed earlier some things had been knocked over on the way back there and thought Nimbus had done it, but she's normally not clumsy. As he approached the back door, he looked left at chest height, where he had a roll of carpet standing next to the back door. There was a baby opossum there on top of the roll chortling at him, a foot away. He found a cardboard box, held it in front of the critter, and it looked inside interestedly. Then he lightly touched it on the rump and it hopped into the box in shock. He took it outside and sent it scurrying into the back yard, presumably where it came from.

Sorry about the few fuzzy shots: the little weasel rarely stands still and I was trying to get a close-up.
Oh, by the way, the title of the thread is a lie today: She's now shaved. I took her yesterday to be spayed, so she's got a naked belly from the surgery. But it doesn't seem to have slowed her down. She's just as active as ever.
seriously get these things called soft paws. there has been alot less bludgeoning since we have been putting these on sammy. petco has 'em http://www.softpaws.com/

Interesting. I don't have a problem with Harlequin clawing furniture, as I have a cardboard scratcher dosed with catnip that she loves, plus a cat house that's hers to destroy. She's a bit tough on my hands when we play, but doesn't generally break the skin.
My concerns would be that the SoftPaws make her a less agile climber (she likes to be on the wire shelf in the kitchen window, and on the hanger bar of the clothes rack in my room), and that she'd be defenseless if she escaped outside.
